MOBILE, Ala. – March 14, 2018 – Later this month, MAB American Management, LLC (MAB), in partnership with IRC Retail Centers (IRC), will officially open its Midtown Mobile development in Mobile, Alabama. Anchored by Publix, the approximately $17 million shopping center features more than 62,000 square feet of commercial retail space and upon completion will create more than 300 jobs in the Midtown Mobile neighborhood.
“Located on the corner of Old Shell Road and North Florida Street, this project transforms the Midtown Mobile landscape and we are excited to officially welcome our neighbors to the development with the grand opening of Publix this March,” says John Argo, principal developer at MAB American Management, LLC. “There has been a wonderful resurgence in Midtown Mobile and we look forward to contributing to that vitality with the opening of this shopping center.”
Midtown Mobile is a redevelopment of the former site of Augusta Evans School. In addition to Publix, the Midtown Mobile shopping center will feature specialty retailers and food establishments, including G. Harvell, Rock N Roll Sushi, Taco Mama, Lee Nails Salon and more to be announced. “
As a convenient and special place for the 77,000 residents who live within 3 miles to shop and dine, this project should become a staple of the Midtown Mobile community. By investing in this community we aim to continue the economic spark that has been ignited in Mobile by its residents and leadership,” adds Argo.
The Midtown Mobile development is MAB’s sixth completed project with Publix and fourth joint venture with IRC. Other developments with IRC include Publix stores at Shoppes at Rainbow Landing, Rainbow City, Alabama; Weaverville Plaza in Weaverville, North Carolina; and Tiger Point Pavilion, Pensacola, Florida. Through partnerships with IRC and others, MAB currently has over $90 million in Publix projects completed or under construction.
